"Patience Is A Virtue" ~ Laurya @ Pernworld MUSH

I've been a gold candidate numerous times, probably too many to mention. I have yet to impress, however, though not for lack of trying. I've read most of the letters and papers that are out there on goldriding, and although some are blatant and terrifying, I still keep my preferences. Why?
Because I /want/ to impress gold, and I /like/ candidacy. I've heard many times that: "I hate candidacy. It's so boring." I beg to differ. I find that candidacy is by /far/ the better part of the experiance. As soon as you're a weyrling, you've got much more responsibility, and much more attention. As yet, I'm only a greenrider, and a brownrider, and still I've had this experiance. I cannot even /begin/ to grasp what this must be like for goldriders.
So, after I've said this, you must be wondering why I /still/ want to do this. Well, after many tries, and no impressions, I've just about given up. Currently I'm a candidate @ Western Weyr, and I had originally set my preferences as gold, green, blue, brown. But, I didn't want to miss out on search at Eastern, and so I changed my prefs to gold-only. It's not because I'm stuck up, it's because I want to stand more often. I don't impress when I'm gold-only, and so I have the chance to stand at lots of different places.
One thing I've found that /always/ characterizes goldriders: You MUST have lots of online time. I've been told several times that I would've impressed if I'd had more online time. So if you're only allowed an hour a day, forget goldriding as a profession. ;)
I hope I've helped in some way!
